In the history of mankind, three revolutions which impact the human life are the tool-making revolution, agricultural revolution and industrial revolution. They have transformed not only the economy and civilization but the overall development of the society. Probably, intelligence revolution is the next revolution, which the society will perceive in the next 10 years. ICCD-2014 covers all dimensions of intelligent sciences, i.e. Intelligent Computing, Intelligent Communication and Intelligent Devices. This volume covers contributions from Intelligent Communication which are from the areas such as Communications and Wireless Ad Hoc & Sensor Networks, Speech & Natural Language Processing, including Signal, Image and Video Processing and Mobile broadband and Optical networks, which are the key to the ground-breaking inventions to intelligent communication technologies. Secondly, Intelligent Device is any type of equipment, instrument or machine that has its own computing capability. Contributions from the areas such as Embedded Systems, RFID, RF MEMS, VLSI Design & Electronic Devices, Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design and Testing, MEMS and Microsystems, CMOS MEMS, Solar Cells and Photonics, Nano Devices, Single Electron & Spintronics Devices, Space Electronics and Intelligent Robotics are covered in this volume.
Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) is one of the best broadband access solution for the public. In order to support FTTH services, Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) is mainly used. In this book, an intelligent dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm based on fuzzy logic is proposed to allocate the upstream EPON bandwidth in the FTTH environment to avoid collision. By using fuzzy logic in EPON, it has been proved that the bandwidth is granted as according to the Quality of Service, thus leads to the less unused slot remainder and less delay. Hence, the performance of the system improves significantly.
The book presents high quality papers presented at 2nd International Conference on Intelligent Computing, Communication & Devices (ICCD 2016) organized by Interscience Institute of Management and Technology (IIMT), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, during 13 and 14 August, 2016. The book covers all dimensions of intelligent sciences in its three tracks, namely, intelligent computing, intelligent communication and intelligent devices. intelligent computing track covers areas such as intelligent and distributed computing, intelligent grid and cloud computing, internet of things, soft computing and engineering applications, data mining and knowledge discovery, semantic and web technology, hybrid systems, agent computing, bioinformatics, and recommendation systems.Intelligent communication covers communication and network technologies, including mobile broadband and all optical networks that are the key to groundbreaking inventions of intelligent communication technologies. This covers communication hardware, software and networked intelligence, mobile technologies, machine-to-machine communication networks, speech and natural language processing, routing techniques and network analytics, wireless ad hoc and sensor networks, communications and information security, signal, image and video processing, network management, and traffic engineering. And finally, the third track intelligent device deals with any equipment, instrument, or machine that has its own computing capability. As computing technology becomes more advanced and less expensive, it can be built into an increasing number of devices of all kinds. The intelligent device covers areas such as embedded systems, RFID, RF MEMS, VLSI design and electronic devices, analog and mixed-signal IC design and testing, MEMS and microsystems, solar cells and photonics, nanodevices, single electron and spintronics devices, space electronics, and intelligent robotics.
In this thesis the physical layer design of broadband MIMO-OFDM communication systems is considered taking into account the realistic multipath radio channel. The main focus is made on examining a number of coherent and non-coherent MIMO techniques both analytically and via computer simulations. Several proposals are made to assist intelligent selection of MIMO precoding and decoding algorithms. Additionally two novel improved differential transmission schemes are presented and analyzed.
Chandigarh University [CU] is India's best university in Punjab, North India offers various Undergraduate and Post graduate Courses. At Chandigarh University, research is at the core of our approach to teaching and learning, and keeps our courses contemporary, relevant and cutting edge. From scientific experiments to the project experimentation, CU accords its under-graduate students to get involved in research that offers hands-on experience. Students along with faculty are involved in exciting and interesting projects in the thrust areas like advanced materials, biomedical engineering, clean energy and environment, computational biology, intelligent systems, micro-nanotechnology, wireless and broadband communication to name.
As business reinvents itself at broadband speed, what makes leaders effective has inevitably been transformed. Old assumptions and old modes no longer hold, a new style of leadership that works has emerged amidst the chaos of change. This new leader excels in the art of relationship, the singular expertise which the changing business climate renders indispensable. Excellence is being defined in interpersonal terms as companies have stripped out layers of managers, as corporations merge across national boundaries, and as customers and suppliers redefine the web of connection.Bestselling author Daniel Goleman argues that emotionally intelligent leaders are now 'must-haves' for business today. But many readers have been left with, So now what do I do? The New Leaders answers that question by laying out the map for transforming leadership in individuals, in teams and organisations.
Dynamic System Reconfiguration in Heterogeneous Platforms defines the MORPHEUS platform that can join the performance density advantage of reconfigurable technologies and the easy control capabilities of general purpose processors. It consists of a System-on-Chip made of a scalable system infrastructure hosting heterogeneous reconfigurable accelerators, providing dynamic reconfiguration capabilities and data-stream management capabilities. Moreover a toolset which offers a software-oriented approach for implementing data intensive applications on the chip is presented. The toolset provides application design process based on high level programming languages as much as possible. Various applications from differnt domains have been selected to drive the development of the project in assessing the MORPHEUS concept about its computing performance, utilization flexibility and productivity. The emerging IEEE 802.16j standard for Mobile Broadband Wireless Access systems is the base for a first type of applications. The second application is in the area of telecommunication networks which requires data rates up to 40 Gbit/s per single line. A third application is about huge digital postprocessing of the films captured by digital camera or film scanners in resolutions up to 4K. The fourth application is about image processing for intelligent cameras.
Russel Cooper and Gary Madden The present volume analyses the frontiers of broadband, electronic and mobile commerce markets. High-capacity and intelligent mobile telecommunication net works have resulted in new services, such as SMS and Internet banking. Growth in mobile Internet network infrastructure and subscription has provided a base for the development of e-commerce. Accordingly, recent research on broadband net works is forward-looking, e. g. , forecasting Internet telephony adoption and the structure of future retail markets. The broadband regime brings with it concerns of identifying appropriate standards and delivery for universal service. Regulation and pricing are matters of importance as well as appropriate investment decisions within a market of ongoing innovation. The volume is divided in five parts: e-commerce business models; network technology and productivity; demand and pricing; market growth, regulation and investment; and issues related to the development imperative. The structure of the volume is guided by the basic themes considered at the International Telecommu nications Society's Asia-Australasian Regional Conference 'Mcbusiness, E commerce and the Impact of Broadband on regional Development and Business Prospects', which took place in Perth Western Australia on 22-24 June 2003. The volume contains a selection of papers presented at this conference as well as four additional invited papers, commissioned to augment the volume. The invited pa pers are authored by Jerry Hausman (Chapter 1), Jeffery Bernstein and Charles Zarkadas (Chapter 6), M. Ishaq Nadiri and Banani Nandi (Chapter 8) and Glenn Woroch (Chapter 13).
